Being the main attraction of Srinagar, the Dal Lake consists of three islands. You can visit the beautiful Mughal gardens which are present around the lake. Flanked by hills, the Shankaracharya hills aim at providing a beautiful view over the lake.

Dal Lake is famous for its floating gardens. It looks most beautiful during July and August when the lotus bloom. This garden is a perfect combination of vegetation and earth where tomatoes, Cucumbers, and Melons grow. With the help of a Shikara, you can get a tour around the lake as well as the Mughal gardens. The powerboats are kept away from the Dal Lake due to the massive growth of waterweeds.

One of the exciting things about this Lake is that you can even swim in this water. All the houseboats are lined and are completely equipped with diving boards. The ideal time to visit the Dal Lake in Kashmir is the time during June to August.

Deodar forest is one of the major attractions of Himachal Pradesh. Being a sacred tree, it has towering conifer which gives the tree a striking appearance. The branches are pointed and dropping. This tree is often worshipped as the tree god. It has a Sanskrit meaning and found its origin from the word “devadaru”. In Afghanistan and Pakistan, this tree is the national tree. In the Himalayas, the Deodar ranges at an elevation from 3500 to 12000 feet. But in Punjab, Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh the Deodars are very common. Deodars can live for thousands of years and can grow up to 250 feet. The woods of the tree find its application in building material and are used in the construction of religious temples. Durability and rot-resistant are the properties of the deodar wood. The wood, bark and the oil of deodar tree also come with curative properties.

Located 5 km from Cherrapunji, the Nohkalikhai waterfalls are the fourth largest waterfall in the world. It falls from a height of 1100 feet. You can view the falls by driving through the elevated tableland. The monsoon season is the most favorable time to visit Nohkalikai. With the help of the stairs present, the tourists can move down and experience the other viewing points of the fall. You can also do other interesting activities such as camping, trekking, bird watching, and photography. There lies a sad, tragic story behind the name of   Nohkalikhai falls. This hill station near Mumbai is the smallest hill station in India. Located in the Western Ghats, it consists of 38 viewpoints. It also has the Panorama Point from where you can see a beautiful sunrise and sunset. The other points include the Louisa point, the Heart point, the Monkey point and the One Tree Hill point. Matheran has semi evergreen forests. The major attractions of Matheran are the toy trains, the horses, the monkeys and the surrounding nature. The vehicles are banned here so that you can take a horse ride from Dasturi Naka to the main streets of Matheran. The Ministry of Environment and Forest declared this hill station as an eco-sensitive region.

Dudhsagar means “sea of milk.” This cascade of white water is believed to be created due to an illusion that the waterfall as it pours downwards rapidly into the waters of the lake. It has a height of about 1017 feet and a width of 100 feet. You can go by road or chose the rails. You also do trekking and reach the base by simply taking a walk. The best time to visit this place is during the monsoon season.

Being declared as the finest wildlife areas in the world, the Kanha National Park is famous for its Tiger Reserve. It covers the two revenue districts, namely the Mandala and the Kalaghat. In the year 1879, it was declared as a reserve forest. It is a natural habitat for a large number of wild species. You can opt for jeep safari or the elephant safari. This island holds the first position and is one of the world’s largest fresh water mid-river deltaic Island. It has a height of about 84.5 meters and is located in the upper regions of the Brahmaputra River. It has Tribal in the majority and is a home to flora and fauna. The Island is protected and governed by a non-government organization. The uniqueness and diversity in natural heritage have made the Majuli Island as World Heritage Site as declared by the UNESCO.
